Antenatal Refresher Class

Expecting another baby soon and looking to refresh your knowledge? Maybe you’ve recently moved to the area and would like to learn more about the local hospital or how to prepare for a home birth in addition to meeting others? Perhaps you want to feel more positive about this birth experience?

Refresher antenatal classes cover pregnancy and birth within a group setting, but in a more condensed format compared with our full antenatal courses. We also provide the opportunity to reflect on your previous birth experience and recognise the challenges you may have faced.

Considering the impact of introducing a new baby into your family dynamic comes with the arrival of another child. This may involve coping with sibling rivalry in addition to changes in family relationships, so we also spend time discussing these issues.

The emphasis is on gaining knowledge and support in our refresher classes but also having fun. We know that parents expecting a second or subsequent baby also want to meet others having a baby at a similar time for friendship and support. About Birth and Babies practitioners know the importance of this and are skilled in encouraging groups to form a close network.

Antenatal refresher classes will be appropriate whether you have a small or large gap but if it’s your first baby and your partner already has children, you might prefer to attend one of our more comprehensive full antenatal courses.

Priced at £77 for mum and birth partner to attend, a refresher class is 5 hours in length and held on one weekend day.

  Me and my partner were so pleased we booked onto this class, we learnt SO much!! It was reassuring and nice to be with other parents to be who had the same worries and questions. We both learnt a lot about pain management options during labour as well as the important roll your birthing partner plays. My husband definitely felt more confident and prepared about what was to come and so did I.

  Just finished the Full Antenatal Class with Sian. Found it so helpful and learnt loads about pregnancy, labour and baby care. Sian is excellent and incredibly knowledgeable.   Great classes for learning a lot of very useful information and tips about labor, breastfeeding and taking care of a newborn baby! both Sian and Lauren are very experienced instructors and the sessions are very engaging.
